Apps

These are some of the little apps I have made. Feel free to check them out and give feedback.

MCE Virtual Remote - This gives you a virtual Media Center remote control that can be used from any PC on your network to control your Media Center computer. Please read the readme.txt file before using it. Download Here.

MCE Multi Mon - Lets you maximize Media Center without capturing the mouse in the window.  This is very useful for dual monitor or multiple monitor setups.  This also has the ability to send the Media Center to a specific screen using the taskbar menu.  Download Here.

MCKeySender - This simple application will take any parameters that you give it and pass them to the Media Center window.  It can be very useful for automating Media Center tasks. Download Here.

MC Lock (beta) - Makes sure that Media Center stays running and on top.  If Media Center is closed you are prompted for a password, or you can cancel to restart Media Center.  Download Here.

Gimme My MC - This is just a small little app that will move a maximized Media Center window from one monitor to another. It is meant for when Media Center has been maximized on a monitor that isn't currently powered on. I haven't fully tested this, so I can't say for sure that it works, but it should. Download Here.  *This app is obsolete* - it has been replaced by MCE Multi Mon (has a lot more functionality for changing the Media Center window).

Re: MCKeySender

Nifty app, thanks for providing it for free.

I too would love to know how this was implemented (what interfaces, ...), as I would love to be able to control MediaPortal from the command line.

MediaPortal listens to MCE remote-control commands, but MCKeyFinder apparently only targets Windows Media Center.

A quick pointer would be much appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

MCE Mult-Mon

Top app Ryan.... but (there's always a "but" right?)

My system is a multi-room, multi screen HTPC setup, with different screens and different resolutions in each room. Your app copes with this beautifully.

The "but", is because we can only send 7MC (VMC, MCE whatever you like to call it) to different screens when sitting in front of the primary screen with a mouse.

I really want to be able to sit in the lounge, fire up the HTPC using my Pronto remote, then fire up MediaCentre and then... doh!, the Mediacentre is currently showing on the other screen which is in the kids room. So I want to be able to trigger a keyboard shortcut to trap MCE and send it to the Louge screen.

So.. this should be easily possible right? Can you add keyboard shortcuts to your app for the sending of MCE to different screens?

OR.. can you extend the command line interface so that I can fire off batch commands to do the same thing?

This would make this app truely brilliant.

thanks

Martyn

Hi there, just discovered

Hi there,

just discovered your MCE KeySender tool and wondered how you implemented this.
I've been desperately trying for the past few days to simulate key presses by sending keycodes via SendInput(), but they don't seem to be recognized by Windows Media Center.

Any help would be appreciated.

MCKey Sender Functionality

Any chance this app mimics "right clicks" in media center?

MCKeySender

Am I missing something?

I downloaded your exe and ran it but only the text box runs explaining the parameters. How do I get them to exicute and get MC to do things?

I would love to have this little thinggy work for me !

Thanks for yor time Ryan.

It's a command-line

It's a command-line application, so you have to specify the button-press you want to simulate as a parameter, e.g.
MCKeySender /music
